WHY REPEAL OBAMACARE?

Since the ratification of our Constitution the Congress has attempted to provide “welfare,” in one form or another.  Many in Congress would have you believe that their power to legislate Health Care in the United States is derived from the “General Welfare” clause.   There have been many articles written on the term “General Welfare” – some in favor of expanding governmental power, others on limiting governmental power.  It is our position that the latter is correct.  If the founders wished congress to have such broad, sweeping power, they would not have gone through the trouble of enumerating what powers they did have.

We must understand that government has NO money of its own.

It does not produce any wealth and must derive all its funds from the pockets of others.  Thomas Jefferson, in a letter to Joseph Milligan in 1816, stated: “To take from one, because it is thought his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, the guarantee of everyone the free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it.”

So whereas the government does not produce wealth/money it must get it from the people, taking from those that earned it to provide for those that have not.  In order to pay for health care the government will have to take money from the majority of those earning it to give to those who have not.  We have heard the present administration talk about this quite often – it is called redistribution of wealth.

But does Congress have the constitutional power to enact such a law?  According to Thomas Jefferson who stated: “Congress has not unlimited powers to provide for the general welfare, but only those specifically enumerated.” What he is referring to is Article 1, Section 8, of the Constitution which enumerates (lists) the specific areas for which they may pass law.  Health care, or anything like it, cannot be construed to be one of the enumerated powers listed.
